OKLAHOMA CITY–With alumni in the building and the regular season coming to a close, the Oklahoma Warriors swept the New Mexico Ice Wolves in a two-game series at Blazers Ice Centre.

The Warriors defeated New Mexico 4-3 and 6-4 on Friday and Saturday, respectively. It is Oklahoma’s fifth sweep on home ice this season. The Warriors rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the second period to defeat the Ice Wolves in a shootout in the first game. They did not trail in the second game and held off a resilient New Mexico offense that would not go quietly.

Drew Sutton scored twice on Saturday. Sebastian Speck recorded a goal in each game. William Ahlrik scored a goal in regulation and the shootout winner on Friday. Nathan Rickey picked up a goal and two assists. The Warriors’ ten goals scored is their second-most in a weekend.

The Warriors welcomed back select alumni from the 2023 Robertson Cup championship team to receive their championship rings in a ceremony during the first intermission on Saturday. William Lawson-Body, Brendan Williams, Hunter Jones, Cole Teleki, Adam Smith, and Hunter Allen returned from their respective colleges to Blazers Ice Centre for the weekend. Six members of the current Warriors group joined them for the ceremony, which also featured the retirement of the #23 jersey in honor of Mary Anne Choi, the late Warriors Owner and Governor.

With the regular season complete, Oklahoma gears up for the 2024 Robertson Cup Playoffs. The first-round play-in series against the El Paso Rhinos begins on Friday, April 12. The series is best-of-three with all games held in El Paso. A series victory would give the Warriors at least one home playoff game in the South Division Semifinal.
