Warriors’ Season Ends in El Paso

Apr 16, 2024

EL PASO, Texas–The Oklahoma Warriors fell to the El Paso Rhinos 2-0 in the decisive third game of the south division play-in series.

El Paso scored 1:02 into the first period and an empty net goal with no time remaining in the third for the victory.

For the Oklahoma Warriors, it marks the end of their second season in Oklahoma City and fourth as a North American Hockey League franchise. The team continued its impressive run of not only qualifying for the playoffs in all four years, but winning at least 30 games every year.

The Warriors navigated through numerous twists and turns in what was a rebuilding year for the 2023 Robertson Cup champions. After having already lost the majority of their championship roster, the team was constantly active on the trade market and bringing in new players. More than 40 players suited up for the team this season, and to their credit, they found a way to be competitive and win games throughout the year.

Through their brand of fast and aggressive hockey, Oklahoma got hot and became a tough matchup for any opposing team as the year went on. The group won nine games in a span of ten just after New Year’s Day, and closed the regular season on a five-game winning streak. Warriors fans made Blazers Ice Centre a difficult place to travel to, with Oklahoma’s home record finishing at 17-6-5, a .750 points percentage.

Most importantly, the organization is proud to have welcomed in so many new fans to the Warriors family and to have supported numerous causes within the community. The team held fundraising weekends for the Toby Keith Foundation, Roosevelt Academy, Soldier On, Special Olympics Oklahoma, and Law Enforcement Torch Run.

Work for the 2024-25 season begins now. Please stay tuned for the season schedule and information regarding season ticket plans.
