Warriors Rally Past IceRays in Corpus Christi

Oct 7, 2023

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas–William Ahlrik scored a pair of power play goals, Daniel Duris made 32 saves, and the Oklahoma Warriors defeated the Corpus Christi IceRays 5-1 at American Bank Center on Friday.

After surrendering a 5-on-3 goal in the first period, the Warriors’ offense came to life in the second. Owen Carlile, Jaxon Grosdidier, and William Ahlrik combined to score three goals in the span of 1:55. For Ahlrik, it was a special moment. The 20-year-old center had not played in a game since April after sustaining a lower-body injury in the Robertson Cup playoffs.

In the third, Drew Sutton widened the Warriors’ lead, then Ahlrik added another power play goal to finish off the night. While it was not a wire-to-wire performance, Oklahoma created a comfortable cushion with five unanswered goals. It was only their second game this season not decided by one goal.

Max Dronen recorded three assists in the game. Nathan Rickey had two. Duris’ 32 saves on 33 shots bring his GAA down to 1.99.

The Warriors battle the IceRays in Corpus Christi on Saturday night before returning home. Puck drop is at 7:35 p.m. on NAHLTV.
