Warriors Acquire Landon Fleming from Bobcats

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Warriors have acquired defenseman Landon Fleming via trade from the Bismarck Bobcats.

“Through talking with Coach Roth, it sounds like he focuses on player development and that’s really important to me,” said Fleming. “I’m excited to work with him. It’ll be special to see what this group can do.”

Fleming, 19, played in 42 games for the Bobcats during the 2022-23 season and recorded 6 (1G+5A) points from the blue line. He faced the Warriors in the second game of the 2022 NAHL Showcase, a 7-2 Oklahoma win.

“From what I remember it wasn’t a very close game,” said Fleming. “[The Warriors] played super hard and when we had the puck, we felt surrounded right away. It’s a team that was hard to play against, so it’s gonna be perfect to be on it.”

He plays a two-way game from the back end, and uses his 5’11”, 205-pound frame to his advantage.

“I’m the kind of guy that’s gonna play hard against anyone,” said Fleming. “It doesn’t matter if it’s in games or in practice, I’m gonna try to beat them. I play physical and hard, especially in the D-Zone. For the most part, my game is taking care of our end, and then joining the rush when it’s available.”

The Wisconsin native is eager to join the team following its first Robertson Cup Championship.

“It’s really, really exciting to be with guys who have been there and done it before,” said Fleming.

I’m excited to see what type of leadership they can bring, and know that I’ll be part of a winning team – a team that can do it again. There are so many things I am looking forward to. I’m excited to see the city too, see what it’s all about. I’ve heard some really good things about the area, but most importantly, I can’t wait for the hockey and the chance to be part of something special- to try and win another championship.”
