Warriors Acquire Bartoszkiewicz, Reunite with Original Goaltender

Feb 8, 2024

OKLAHOMA CITY–The Oklahoma Warriors have acquired goaltender Owen Bartoszkiewicz from the USHL’s Youngstown Phantoms.

Bartoszkiewicz leaves the Phantoms with 21 games played this season, the most of any Youngstown goaltender, a 12-6-3 record and a 3.01 goals against average.

The 20-year-old from Northville, Mich. began his junior hockey career in Wichita Falls at 17 as the Warriors’ original goaltender. Bartoszkiewicz played between the pipes in the franchise’s first-ever game.

After posting a record of 23-14-4 with six shutouts and a 2.44 GAA, Bartoszkiewicz and the Warriors stormed into the Robertson Cup Playoffs and swept the Lone Star Brahmas out of the first round. The then-rookie goaltender earned South Division Goaltender of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors.

Since that sparkling rookie season, Bartoszkiewicz’s career has taken him to Youngstown, then the University of Minnesota. Bartoszkiewicz, who committed to the Gophers in 2021 as a member of the Warriors, played six games and earned three wins at the collegiate level, serving as a backup for his year and a half there.

With this roster move, the Warriors have two veteran goaltenders with extensive junior hockey success and playoff experience at the NAHL level in the lineup for the final third of the season. Oklahoma begins a home-heavy home stretch against Lone Star on Friday, February 9 and Saturday, February 10 at Blazers Ice Centre in Oklahoma City.
