NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas–The Oklahoma Warriors secured a four-game sweep over the Lone Star Brahmas with a 3-2 victory at NYTEX Sports Centre on Saturday.
It is the Warriors’ first ever regular-season sweep in North Richland Hills. The team had swept the Brahmas in the first round of the 2021 Robertson Cup playoffs, but not during regular-season play.
After Lone Star scored one minute into the game, Oklahoma answered quickly on Nathan Rickey’s fourth power play goal of the season. Rickey intercepted the goaltender’s clearing attempt, took his time, then hit the top-right corner with a wrist shot.
Landon Fleming scored early in the second to tie the game at 2-2. Zach Homer retrieved the puck in the corner, fed Adam Severson, who then delivered a backdoor pass to Fleming.
Minutes later, William Ahlrik finished off a Carter Sproule cross-ice pass to give the Warriors a 3-2 lead. Over 30 minutes and numerous Brahmas opportunities later, that one-goal advantage stood up.
Daniel Duris made 32 saves on 34 shots for his 13th victory of the season. Duris finishes the weekend at 56 for 59, one of his best series in net this season.
With four consecutive wins in their pocket, Oklahoma turns their attention to the Odessa Jackalopes for another four-game series. The Warriors host the Jackalopes for Military Appreciation Weekend on Friday, January 19 and Saturday, January 20. Puck drop at Blazers Ice Centre is 7:15 p.m. The team will wear special themed jerseys with a live auction taking place after Saturday’s game.
