Warriors Sign Peter Rosa to Tender

Jun 1, 2023

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Warriors are pleased to announce the tender signing of forward Peter Rosa for the 2023-24 season.

“From talking to Coach Roth, it seems like [the Warriors] are a character-first group, and you can’t beat that,” said Rosa. “That’s what it’s all about.”

Rosa played for the Brother Rice Warriors (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) for the past three seasons, and won two Division 2 Michigan State Championships. He captained the Warriors for the past two seasons and powered them to their most recent title with a third-period hat trick in what was a 2-0 deficit.

“It was a perfect ending,” said Rosa. “I was fortunate to have my entire family, lots of friends and all of our classmates watching. It was a pretty cool experience and atmosphere. I couldn’t have asked for anything better.”

Rosa had signed a tender with the Shreveport Mudbugs for the 2022-23 season, but chose to return to his high school team for his senior year after falling short of a second championship in his junior campaign.

“I felt like I had unfinished business,” said Rosa. “The job did get finished.”

The 18-year-old forward was dominant on the scoresheet, scoring 61 points (28G+33A) in 25 regular season games (and adding 22 points (11G+11A) in 5 playoffs games) while also leading his team in the locker room.

“It was nice to see how the group came together over the course of a few years,” said Rosa. “I was brought in by the seniors as a sophomore, and then I got to lead the underclassmen so it was pretty cool.”

Though his statistics have been excellent through his time with Brother Rice, Rosa is familiar with the complete game it takes to be successful in the North American Hockey League South Division, where his oldest brother, Nick, played for the Wichita Falls Wildcats.

“It’s important to play a 200-foot game, and I don’t shy away from the physical play,” said Rosa. “You have to take care of the defensive side of things to open up chances to play fast, which I like to do, and use my shot.”

Rosa keeps a schedule of working out early every morning and skating a few times a week through the summer. He and his friends will enjoy the offseason by hanging out and playing pickleball, but that doesn’t take away from the anticipation of next season.

“Everything that the Warriors have going on is what I want to be a part of, so I’m pretty excited,” Rosa said.
