Allen Scores Twice, Korpi Stops Twenty-One In Warriors 6-0 Victory Over Jackalopes

Nov 26, 2022

ODESSA, Texas – Hunter Allen scored his first two North American Hockey League goals and Cameron Korpi earned a 21-save shutout as the Oklahoma Warriors defeated the Odessa Jackalopes 6-0 at the Ector County Coliseum Friday.

Oklahoma began its scoring with a powerplay goal from Brendan Williams. Rylan Brady poked a puck out of his own zone on the far side to Hunter Jones streaking through neutral ice. Jones then took it in 2-on-1 with Williams before feeding him a cross-crease pass that he finished off for his tenth goal of the season. The Warriors made it a 2-0 game less than three minutes later when Owen Baumgartner continued offensive pressure with a point keep in. Baumgartner sauced the puck to Cole Teleki through traffic, and Teleki sent it back near side to Drew Sutton who hammered it in from the faceoff circle at 10:53. Another powerplay goal made it 3-0 before the end of the period. Joey Delgreco picked up a secondary assist as Williams and Malte Hasselgren stretched out the penalty killers for Hasselgren’s ninth of the season, off a rush.

Delgreco celebrated his 19th birthday by opening the second period with a breakaway goal set up by Sutton. The Warriors made it 4-0 just over six minutes into the middle frame. Allen would score his first North American Hockey League goal before the end of it off a slapshot from the high slot.

The Warriors final goal of the game came from Allen at 8:08 of the third period when he and Sutton tagged up at the offensive blueline. Allen walked in and rifled a wrister from the far-side circle for his second of the game. William Ahlrik and Kaden Nelson picked up helpers on both of Allen’s markers. Korpi made 21 stops between the pipes for his first shutout of the season.

The Warriors have picked up points in twelve straight games, and head into action at 7:15 p.m. Saturday against the Jackalopes with a six-game winning streak.
