Warriors Win 11th Straight, Tie Franchise Record

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Oklahoma Warriors beat the Corpus Christi IceRays 7-2 Saturday at the American Bank Center for their 11th straight win, tying a franchise record set in 2021.

Brendan Williams opened the scoring for the Warriors 51 seconds into the game with a breakaway goal from Joey Delgreco. Hunter Allen then added to the Oklahoma lead one minute and 40 seconds later with another breakaway goal. Cole Teleki found Allen through center ice with a stretch pass from his own zone, and Allen made it 2-0 at 2:31. Past the halfway point of the period, Rylan Brady tipped in an Owen Dyer point shot to tie Williams for the team lead in goals with 17. Kaden Nelson set up Dyer from the the corner for his first helper of the game. The Warriors made it a 4-0 lead at 15:03 when Max Dronen and Allen won a faceoff by committee back to the blueline, and Therien Thiesing let the puck fly off a defender in front for his fifth of the year. The IceRays answered back, but the Warriors headed into the first intermission up 4-1.

Oklahoma scored the only goal in the middle period on an early powerplay opportunity. Horsager passed to William Lawson-Body on the near side, who then set up Delgreco with a one-timer from the left circle at 6:40.

Corpus Christi got a second goal on the board early on in the period, but Oklahoma netted two more to climb to a 7-2 final. William Ahlrik slung in his tenth of the season when a big rebound created a wide open net. Nelson and Thiesing picked up assists at the 13:35 mark. Blaise Miller punctuated the franchise-tying, eleven-game streak with a blast from Malte Hasselgren and Thiesing on the powerplay with 4:50 remaining in the game.

The Warriors’ previous record was set by the team in spring of 2021 when they won 11 straight as a first-year team.
