Feb 11, 2023

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Warriors set a franchise record by winning its twelfth straight game with a 6-1 win over the Odessa Jackalopes Friday at Blazers Ice Centre.

Joey Delgreco opened the scoring with a spin-and-fire shot from the left circle to open the scoring just 10 seconds into the game. Delgreco’s goal was the fastest to open a game by any Warrior this season and extended his point streak to 11 games (9G+14A). Drew Sutton blocked an Odessa shot and the puck bounced to Delgreco, who finished off the play. Oklahoma added another late in the period to take a 2-0 lead into intermission. Sutton broke free from a pair of Jackalopes along the near side wall and skated the puck beneath the goal line before passing to Garrett Horsager at the faceoff circle. Horsager rifled in his fourth goal and eighth point in as many games to double the Warriors’ lead.

The home squad added an early goal at the 2:45 mark of the middle frame to jump up by three. Owen Dyer freed the puck behind his own net and gave for William Lawson-Body, who continued the outlet to Hunter Jones from the corner. Jones then skated the length of the ice and scored his 15th of the season from the slot. Later on, on the powerplay, Delgreco scored his second of the game from William Ahlrik and Lawson-Body at 7:30. The Warriors made it 5-1 before the end of the period. Delgreco reversed the puck to Malte Hasselgren inside his zone and Hasselgren skated the length to set up Owen Baumgartner for his ninth of the year at 11:17.

Blaise Miller scored on a shorthanded breakaway from Lawson-Body in the third period to stretch the game to 6-1 and solidify the Warriors’ historic win.

The Warriors and Jackalopes will play the second game of their weekend set, and the final of the eight-game regular season series, Saturday, February 10 at 7:15 p.m.
