Nov 27, 2022

ODESSA, Texas – Eleven different Warriors recorded a point and Brendan Williams scored the game-winning goal with 5:31 remaining in the third period as the Oklahoma Warriors beat the Odessa Jackalopes 5-3 for their seventh straight win Saturday at the Ector County Coliseum.

Odessa jumped to an early lead and scored its first goal against the Warriors in over two games just 52 seconds into the first period. The Warriors answered back past the halfway point in the frame when Cole Teleki snuck behind the defense and scored a backhand goal on a breakaway. Teleki’s second of the season was set up by Kaden Nelson and Williams at 11:26.

No goals were scored in the second period, but Oklahoma wasted no time getting back on the board to begin the third. William Ahlrik and Malte Hasselgren set up Blaise Miller 63 seconds into the period to give the Warriors a 2-1 lead. Four minutes later, the Jackalopes tied the game. The game would only be tied for two minutes and five seconds. Owen Dyer pushed a puck up for Hunter Jones, who finished his rush with a shot. The attempt was turned away by the Odessa netminder, but a huge rebound came out to Nelson who buried his fifth of the season, giving the Warriors a 3-2 lead. Just over two minutes later the Jackalopes got a 5-on-3 powerplay goal to tie it up again. Williams would score the game-wining goal with just 5:31 left in the game, potting a rebound on the near side of the ice from Rylan Brady and Owen Carlile. Max Dronen added insurance with an empty-net goal with 11.3 seconds left on the clock to make it a 5-3 final.

The Warriors won their seventh straight game, and earned points in a thirteenth straight. The Warriors are back in action December 2 and 3 against the Lone Star Brahmas in North Richland Hills, Texas for 7:30 p.m. puck drops.
