Warriors Complete 3-Goal Comeback, Sweep Wranglers in South Division Semi-Finals

Apr 29, 2023

AMARILLO, Texas – The Oklahoma Warriors overcame a 3-0 deficit in the third period before Brendan Williams sent the team to the South Division Final under two minutes into overtime.

The Wranglers began the action with the first three goals of the game, scoring twice in the first period and once in the second.

Oklahoma opened the third period with two quick goals, the first coming 24 seconds in off the stick of Joey DelGreco from Drew Sutton and Owen Baumgartner. Less than four minutes later, Cole Teleki started a sequence that ended with a Warriors powerplay goal. The defenseman set up Williams for a cross-crease to Hunter Jones down low to make it 3-2. DelGreco sent Malte Hasselgren up ice for a streaking goal to tie it 3-3 at 7:52. That score would hold through the end of regulation, and for the first time in the series, the Warriors and Wranglers headed to overtime.

One minute and 45 seconds into the bonus frame, Owen Dyer took a shot from the point that created a rebound in front for Williams, who iced the series with the 4-3 goal.

The Oklahoma Warriors will begin the 2023 Robertson Cup South Division Finals Friday May 5 at Blazers Ice Centre against the winner of the series between the Shreveport Mudbugs and Lone Star Brahmas.
