OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Warriors scored three powerplay goals and pushed past the Amarillo Wranglers 6-4 in a six-goal third period at Blazers Ice Centre Friday.

William Ahlrik set up the first goal of the game when he chipped the puck to Max Dronen from the boards and Dronen hammered home his ninth of the season. Amarillo responded to tie the game at 1s through 20 minutes.

The Wranglers took a 2-1 lead past the halfway point of the second period, but Ahlrik potted his fourth goal of the weekend series to tie the game 94 seconds later from Owen Baumgartner and Hunter Jones.

The Warriors broke the 2-2 tie under two minutes into the final frame. Baumgartner set up Rylan Brady sneaking behind the opposition defense, and Brady tucked in his 21st of the year through the five-hole. Oklahoma stretched its lead to 4-2 with 10:43 remaining when Joey DelGreco scored off an Ahlrik faceoff win, but Amarillo battled back to tie the game 4-4. Thirty-three seconds later, Jones untied the game with a baseball swing out of the air from Drew Sutton and Brendan Williams. Baumgartner added insurance from Jones with another powerplay goal at 16:49 of the period, cementing the 6-4 victory.

The Warriors and Wranglers will finish their three-in-three weekend with a 7:15 p.m. puck drop Saturday at Blazers Ice Centre. Oklahoma’s St. Patrick’s Day themed jerseys will be auctioned off immediately following the conclusion of the weekend games.
